How to use the age calculator
- Pick Gregorian or Hijri to match the date on your birth certificate, passport or Iqama.
- Type the day, choose the month and type the four-digit year (for example 1995 or 1415). Arabic-Indic digits work too.
- The result appears instantly: your Gregorian and Hijri age, total months, weeks, days and hours, the weekday you were born and your next birthday in both calendars.
Need your age on a specific date, such as a school start date or a job application deadline? Open “Calculate age on another date”. To compare your age with someone else, use the age difference calculator.
How age is calculated
We subtract your birth date from today: years from years, months from months and days from days. If the days come out negative we borrow a month and add the length of the previous month; if the months are negative we borrow a year and add 12 months. This is the same method you would use by hand, except the calculator knows the real length of every Hijri month in the Umm al-Qura calendar (29 or 30 days) instead of assuming 30.
Why your Hijri age is higher
The Hijri calendar follows the moon, so a year has 354 or 355 days, while the Gregorian year has 365 or 366. Hijri dates therefore move about 11 days earlier each year, and your Hijri age becomes one year higher roughly every 33 Gregorian years. See the full breakdown in why your Hijri age is higher.
| Gregorian age | Approximate Hijri age |
|---|---|
| 10 years | 10 years, 4 months |
| 18 years | 18 years, 7 months |
| 25 years | 25 years, 9 months |
| 30 years | 30 years, 11 months |
| 40 years | 41 years, 3 months |
| 50 years | 51 years, 6 months |
| 60 years | 61 years, 10 months |
| 70 years | 72 years, 2 months |
Hijri or Gregorian: which one do I need in Saudi Arabia?
Both calendars are used in Saudi Arabia. Many government services, salaries and legal periods use the Gregorian calendar, while matters tied to Islamic rulings and some regulations use the Hijri (Umm al-Qura) calendar. That is why we always show both. For any official process, confirm which calendar the authority uses.
Age card and privacy
Once the result is on screen you can turn it into an image card with both ages and share it as a WhatsApp status. The card and the calculation are both made on your device, so there is no sign-up and your birth date is never stored.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my age in Hijri and Gregorian?
Choose the calendar your birth date is written in (Gregorian or Hijri), then enter the day, month and year. The calculator instantly shows your age in both calendars in years, months and days, no manual conversion needed.
Why is my Hijri age higher than my Gregorian age?
A Hijri (lunar) year has 354 or 355 days, while a Gregorian year has 365 or 366. The 11-day gap adds up, so your Hijri age grows by roughly one extra year every 33 Gregorian years.
Does this calculator use the Umm al-Qura calendar?
Yes. Hijri ↔ Gregorian conversion uses the official Umm al-Qura calendar of Saudi Arabia for 1300-1500 AH, tested day by day across the whole range. See method & sources.
Can I use the result for official paperwork in Saudi Arabia?
The result is mathematically exact and good for planning, but government bodies may use their own calendar or counting rules. For an official figure, always check with the relevant authority.
How do I share my age as an image on WhatsApp?
After the result appears, tap “Create your age card”, choose the size (WhatsApp status or square) and a color, optionally add a name, then tap “Share image”. On phones the share sheet opens with the picture attached.
Do you store my date of birth?
No. All calculations run inside your browser. Your birth date is never sent to a server or saved.
How many Hijri years are 60 Gregorian years?
About 61 years and 10 months in the Hijri calendar, because Hijri age runs roughly 3% ahead of Gregorian age.
What if I was born on 29 February?
In non-leap years your birthday is counted on 28 February. Likewise, if you were born on the 30th of a Hijri month that has only 29 days this year, your Hijri birthday falls on the 29th.
How many seconds have I been alive?
After you enter your birth date, the “Your age right now, live” section counts your age in years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds, updating every second. Add your birth time for exact hours and minutes.
